Festival of Qualitative Teaching and Training
1 June 2027 | 10:00–17:00 | Tilburg University
A celebration of the people, practices and possibilities of qualitative teaching and training
On 1 June 2027, Tilburg University Qualitative Research Community, the CONTEXT network, the Kwalon platform, and the Kwalitatief Onderzoekscollectief GGZ (KOGGZ) invite you to the Festival of Qualitative Teaching and Training. Confirmed keynotes include Dr Larike Bronkhorst from Utrecht University and Dr Gerben Moerman from the University of Amsterdam, who are both pioneering teachers of qualitative methods.
A day to meet fellow qualitative educators and trainers from across the Netherlands and Flanders, share what we've learned, explore what good teaching of qualitative methods can look like, and inspire each other to try something new.
Through keynotes, flash talks, interactive workshops and collaborative hackathons, we want to celebrate the creativity, dedication and sometimes unconventional approaches of people teaching qualitative research.
Whether you're an experienced lecturer or trainer, a qualitative researcher who has developed their own way of teaching, an educational innovator, or a student with ideas about how qualitative methods could be taught differently: you're very welcome!
Registration fee including lunch € 7,50

Ways to contribute
- Flash Teaching – Your Three Best Slides (5 minutes)
Teach us something using up to three slides! Share a favourite teaching approach, exercise or insight in a short, engaging mini-lesson and tell us why it works. - Interactive Workshops (60 minutes or 120 minutes)
Let others experience how you teach qualitative methods. Whether it's interviewing, observation, analysis, reflexivity or something entirely different: invite participants to learn by experiencing. - Education Hackathons (120 minutes)
Have a challenge or idea for improving qualitative methods education? Bring people together to co-create something new, for example, a teaching exercise, a lesson plan or educational tool. The aim is to leave with a concrete outcome. - Teaching Showcase
Share an educational innovation, teaching experiment, inspiring practice or even something that didn't quite work as expected. - Something completely different?
Surprise us! We welcome unconventional ideas, creative formats and experiments that challenge how we think about qualitative research education.
If you want to contribute, that is possible. Submit your idea before november 30th.
